“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:24
When Jesus said,”Come follow me” he gave the disciples a choice. Either you are with me or against me. The Jewish believers had struggled to follow Christ, because they were brought up under the Mosaic laws of God’s Word. Yet righteousness could not be attained through the works of the law. Those people who did follow Christ struggled to walk in the Spirit to serve Jesus Christ God’s one and only son.
Why? They were accustomed to a religion that was external. Yet it could not saved them. When Christ died and was crucified, he died for the sins of humanity. God forgave when He gave His only sinless son who took the sins of the world upon Himself. “He became righteousness who “ for those who would believe. He became sin who knew no sin that we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:21.
The cross gave us the new covenant through the blood shed on the cross.
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross”.
Colossians 2:13-14 NIV
Jesus said, God would give us the Holy Spirit to live in us to help us follow God and live a life that can overcome sin over the flesh ( our sinful nature).
“For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
Galatians 2:19-21 NIV
“Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you”.
Romans 8:8-11 NIV
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Galatians 5:24-26 NIV
Arrogance , pride, theological arguments, whatever church group or denomination will not give you the victory to overcome sin and live a life of abundant grace. But only the power of Christ in us my friend.
No matter how hard you try to live to please God you will fail in the flesh. LET IT GO and Release your Faith in God and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to help you walk in victory today.
Remember. Jesus already did the work, its up to you and I to believe in the power of God’s promise to be free and walk in victory.
