Congratulations to so many who graduated recently. It’s Time to Build Sandcastles!
A new chapter begins in your life including those around you who help stay the course. For most of you it wasn’t easy, but your goal was accomplished, including those adults who work and have a family. Not just young teens in high school or college. New dreams, new goals, and yes new challenges will begin again. Making wise choices will be critical if you haven’t found that out yet. I want to look at the sand on the beach.
First of all, it is beautiful and feels so good as we walk the beach barefooted or let the tiny small granules sift between our fingers and toes. The bonus is the ocean is right at the edge. I personally love the beaches on the south shore, where I currently live, Cape Cod, & the islands of Massachusetts (Yes, I love the beaches on the north shore & Maine too, but the water is too cold).
Now that you have graduated what’s next more education, college, a promotion, a raise? Maybe just a time for a good vacation to rest up and face this challenging, furious world called the rat race. Picture the sand, we can either make sand castles or pound sand. Sounds like life. It how we see the opportunities that we are faced with. Success will not be easy and never is. You will fail at some things but usually failure can make us a better person by learning from our mistakes. We can either whine and complain and pound sand or we can get back up and build that castle! Which will you choose?
Choose to do what is right even if its not popular. Just because everybody is doing it does not mean it is right, such as lying for your boss, tearing others down to make yourself look better, or cheating. Do you really want to work for a boss, or company, or an organization that has no character? This usually catches up and ends up in a pile of sand. It takes years to build a good reputation and character, only to see it destroyed in a matter of minutes or days. Even if it means getting fired for ‘doing the right thing’ is not the end of your world’. It will be in these moments that sandcastles will be built. Besides, you will live with a clear conscience and God will be pleased. My motto in this life is not how we start this race ‘Rat Race’ of life, but how we finish it! I would rather hear, ‘Well done good and faithful servant’. I try to pray for wisdom and discernment daily to make the right decisions.
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns”.

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him”.

If you know a graduate would you mind sharing this with them.
Have a wonderful week and invest some time with friends and family building sandcastles on the beach!
