Be Alert and Watchful- PRAY

Spritual battles and the power of temptation are real in our lives. One of the big differences of increased warfare is when we pursue God for truth with passion. Why is that?

1. The Enemy is a Deceiver and the Father of Lies.

“For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

The enemy, the devil hates truth and even the religious crowd argued with Jesus. They were more concerned about their reputation and how they looked, compared to their character. Jesus was cool as long as he did not disrupt their sinful lifestyle.

2. We need to Be Alert, Watchful and Soberminded to Overcome Temptation and the Great Enemy.

When we sin habitually, the same vices we get trapped into and keep us in bondage. Some vices could be lying, cheating, drugs, alcohol, immorality, pornography, stealing, gossip, envy, jealousy, a critical spirit, etc. Some are works of the flesh, others are blatant from the enemy.

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry”.
(Colossians 3:5)

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”
John 8:34‭-‬36 NLT

3. Jesus Is The Truth and this is how we overcome with personal victory!

We can’t do it in our own strength, but God’s Word through His Spirit lives in us for victory.

” Jesus said, ‘You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” John 8:32.

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh”. Galatians 5:16 NIV

“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.

Romans 6:6-8.NIV

“I am the way, the truth, and the life…” John 14:6a

“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8 NASB

“Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world”
1 John 4:4

We have been made More than Conquers in Christ Jesus’ Romans 8:37

“When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. [11] So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. [12] Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. [13] Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. [14] Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace”. Romans.6:10-14.NLT

I know some of you may doubt God or this devotion, but thats the enemies plan. To keep you away from God’s love, grace, and His Word. There is power and forgiveness at the cross of Christ. God’s powerful, overwhelming grace will give you strength through His Holy Spirit today. Just let it go and trust the Lord.

My friend experience Gods power today and ask the Lord to help you if you are struggling today. Trust God for yourself or that struggling child, nephew-neice, grandchild, or even your spouse. Maybe it’s your in-law or co- worker, but pray that Jesus would break the chains and bondage in His name today!

Be Watchful and Alert this today and beyond, for there is always hope if we just believe. The battle belongs to the Lord!
