Blind Spots
As I was trying to pull out of a street to take a left on the main road, I could not see to my right due to a large cardboard box I had inside my Highlander SUV. It was the beginning of rush hour and I was at a standstill. I was waiting for the inevitable to happen. The horns blowing and the stress of traffic.
I began to inch out like a turtle hoping no vehicles were approaching so I could make the left turn. At this point it felt like 4th down with inches to go. I decided to go for it rather than punt. I could not get out of my SUV to rearrange the box it was just too big. As I stepped on the gas and prayed at the same time, I just went, even though I was blindsided by this large cardboard box.
Fortunately, I made it safely but I will say it was a bit risky. Our paths in life are full of risk which can create such stress and anxiety at times that we don’t know which direction to take. So often we create these stressors and want to blame others for our problems or the situation that we’re in like addiction to drugs (even prescriptions), alcohol, pornography, or even financial debt due to uncontrolled gambling problems.
Perhaps you’re blinded by your own addictions and you cannot see how it is affecting those around you and yourself. We can tend to justify our actions and irresponsibility with, ” I have everything under control”! You begin to believe this lie in your own mind yet those around you know that your blindsided and your caving in to self destruction.
The people who really love you will be honest with you, yet you may not want to hear it until it’s too late. For those family, friends, coworkers, remember; its not what we say, but how we say it that matters. We have to learn to ‘speak the truth in love’ with a sincere and right heart. The journey begins when we walk this road together with a “no judgment zone” like Planet Fitness says in their mission statement.
Everyone of us have blind spots that we can’t see even when we look in the mirror. Jesus, reminded us to remove the plank out of our own eye first. If you are at this crossroad I encourage you to get help for both yourself and for the sake of others. Please do not allow pride to blindside you, because once you acknowledge your need your road to recovery will begin and the future will be brighter because of God’s grace.
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” James 1:22-25
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretched like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.

My friend ask the Lord to show you your blind spots today.
