When God Shook The Earth

What happened next after Jesus died when he released his spirit? “And Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was rent (torn) in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake; and the rocks were rent; Matthew” 27:50‭-‬51.

The veil (curtain) was between the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place as mentioned in the Tabernacle in the OT book of Exodus. The veil was torn from top to bottom to give us access to God the Father’s mercy and presence. This was not an act of man, but an act of God.

Jesus’s death on the cross opens the way to the presence of God by His shed blood and puts an end to the Old Testament Temple and sacrificial system of sheep, goats, and animals.

When Jesus was crucified on the cross He cried out out “It is finished”(‘tetelestai’ in Greek, complete) and He released his sprit. John 19:30. There was no more sacrifice for sins. He became the perfect Passover Lamb for redemption. ‘”The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” John 1:29. Nothing more needed to be added. Jesus is our Great High Priest. “Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. [10] For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time. [11] Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. [12] But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. [13] There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. [14] For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. Hebrews 10:9-14. https://bible.com/bible/116/heb.10.9-14.NLT

This gives the believer (faith) in Christ Jesus the privilege, access, and authority to experience God’s love on a daily basis, because of Christ shed blood at the cross.

Hebrews 10:19-20 NLT
[19] And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place (throne of grace) because of the blood of Jesus. [20] By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain (the veil) into the Most Holy Place”. Hebrews 10:19-20

As we reflect on this Passover weekend may we be grateful for God’s mercy, grace, and forgiveness because of a new and living way (new covenant) by opening the curtain (veil) for whosoever. The hope that God alone offers because of Christ’s suffering and death on the cross. Even if your life is being shaken, with life’s problems and issues, you can bring the weight of your problems and sins to Jesus Christ. For He carried the weight of the world on His shoulders for us. ‘It is finished.’ Our part is to believe and trust God at His Word because God paved the way to gain access into His presence, even in the midst of an earthquake.

We can now come to God and confess our sins to God in Jesus Christ. No earthly priest needed. “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and man, the man Jesus Christ” 1Timothy 2:5

My friend be safe and be blessed thi Passover/Easter season.

Greetings! My name is Andy Provitola and I live in New England on the South Shore between Boston and the beautiful Cape Cod region. The purpose of my blogging and writing is to encourage you in your journey here on planet earth. Life is full of pressing issues and problems and my desire is to discover a place for peace, hope, healing, and contentment. I am a follower of Jesus Christ – God’s one and only Son and I discovered these truths along my own personal journey. Having discovered a personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ does not mean I have to be religious to attain the rewards of heaven. The fact is God provides grace for us and accepts us as we are in His image. In other words, we cannot attain heaven or life eternal on our own, but by God’s loving grace and no merit of our own. Simply by accepting Him by faith and believing. My goal is to continue to find a balance of life from a spiritual and practical perspective with a purpose to please and glorify God in all that I do because of His ‘Gift of Grace’. God is not transcendent and so far away that he is out of reach with humanity. God desires that His presence lives within us and not just in the galaxies and the universe. Experiencing the unconditional love of God has been so rewarding and while discovering the truth and purpose for my life. Moving forward in this life is not a sprint, but a marathon when it comes to this race here on earth. I am blogging because I find it is a good way to connect in a much more effective and efficient way when it comes to communicating and interacting with people that I know or do not know. Blogging and writing challenges me and also stretches me specifically in my thoughts, my mind, my emotions, and my spiritual life. To live a vertical relation with God and a horizontal relationship with others. There will be a variety of topics and subjects to address including youth, young adults, family, singles, seniors, relationships, etc. Some of the topics will include God’s creation and power, depression, loneliness, suicide, hope, healing, setbacks, financial matters, business, stress, anxiety, care, encouragement, and so much more. I would like to connect with all walks of life, ethnicity, culturally, other religions, socio-economics, and in so many more ways. I am currently writing a book and several memoirs about my own life and journey . The journey begins at a young age growing up in Malden, Massachusetts, specifically Maplewood Square to where I am today. I became paralyzed from the waist down as a senior in high school and I share how my life changed for the better! “But I do not consider my life as something of value or dear to me, so that I may [with joy] finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus. To testify faithfully of the good news of God’s [precious undeserved] grace [which makes us free of guilt of sin and grants us eternal life]. Acts 20:24 Amplified Version
